Currently there are about 20 young Knowledge Workers employed at PT Mobee with ratio of using desktop, laptop as well as mobile (handheld) devices for their work is almost 1 : 1
It is true that usage of those devices which is aimed as functional component for Knowledge Worker infrastructure encouraging its function as a Knowledge Management (KM) tool instead of the others* is not without risk to the organization.
Such issue of the potential impact of mobile technologies as Knowledge Management (KM) tools in the organization will be discussed in the attached article (see Attachment) : CURRENT AND POTENTIAL FUTURE IMPACT OF MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES WITHIN ORGANIZATIONS ( by : Calvin, S.I. – Univ. of Sydney student joining Mobee Internship Program, Dec. 2008 – Feb. 2009)
Regarding the issue above mentioned, I’d like also to remind what PT Mobee experienced in 2007 when a former PT Mobee employee intended to sell illegally Mobee Source Code (see the Link http://mobeeknowledge.ning.com/forum/topics/2090583:Topic:344 - Warning to an effort selling Mobee source code). I would like to get your attention that was seriously violated the PT Mobee Employee Regulation (Peraturan Ketenagakerjaan Perusahaan PT Mobee) in Part (Bab) III, paragraph (Pasal) 11 dealing with Confidential Information (Rahasia Jabatan). As a Knowledge Manager and taking charge of Corporate Learning, I’m very seriously viewing about this.
* KM tools, as Knowledge Workers eco-system used at PT Mobee among others are : Front & Back Office Applications, Asynchronous Collaborative Service (e-mail, Discussion Forum at our Ning.com as Social Workspace Collaboration), Synchronous Collaboration Service (IM, online meeting), Aggregation Frameworks (sites, portals), Process Automation (Work Flow), Content Management System or CMS, Taxonomy and Metadata Management to organize site map – file plan – CMS, Corporate Portals as functional sites esp. e-learning for engineering and business team, Search and Crawling engine for media and content developer clients, network analysis tools used to analysis client and members community, E-Mail management, Wiki’s, Blogs, Presentation System (Browsers, ITC Devices) etc
